Institutional investment firm Bay Capital Partners has appointed Sandeep Barasia and Tej Kapoor as Partners, strengthening its leadership team ahead of the launch of a new investment vehicle.
The two executives will also serve as Co-founders and Partners of the firm’s upcoming Digital Opportunities Fund, a Category II Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) focused on late-stage, high-growth companies in the digital and technology ecosystem.
A Strategic Push into Late-Stage Tech
The Digital Opportunities Fund is expected to take a selective investment approach, building a portfolio of 10–15 companies across both private and public markets.
The move signals Bay Capital’s intent to deepen its presence in India’s rapidly evolving digital economy, where late-stage capital and strategic expertise are increasingly in demand.
Leadership with Deep Market Experience
Tej Kapoor brings more than two decades of experience in technology investing. He previously served as Head of Investments at Naspers and later as India Country Head at Fosun International.
Kapoor emphasized the importance of long-term partnerships in venture investing, noting that founders increasingly seek investors who can provide strategic guidance alongside capital.
Operator-Turned-Investor Perspective
Sandeep Barasia brings over 25 years of experience across strategy, operations, and business development. Most recently, he served as Executive Director and Chief Business Officer at Delhivery.
His experience spans scaling businesses from early-stage ventures to large public companies, giving him a strong operational lens in evaluating investments.
Building a Value-Driven Investment Platform
With Barasia’s operational expertise and Kapoor’s investment track record, Bay Capital aims to position the new fund as more than just a capital provider.
The firm is focusing on backing founders with hands-on support in areas such as:
- Strategy and scaling operations
- Business development and market expansion
- Navigating public markets and late-stage growth
The Bigger Picture
The launch of the Digital Opportunities Fund comes at a time when India’s startup ecosystem is maturing, with more companies transitioning into late-stage growth and public market readiness.
By combining institutional capital with deep operating and investing experience, Bay Capital Partners is positioning itself to back the next wave of India’s digital leaders.
